Rebecca Verity BVM BVS MRCVS Cert(SAS)
Founder of The Surgical Vet
I graduated from the University of Nottingham Vet School in 2014 and have been passionate about surgery from the very start of my career. I’ve always been drawn to the precision and problem-solving of surgical work - but more than that, I believe in the value of being able to offer advanced procedures within a familiar practice setting, where pets and their owners feel at ease.
This belief was shaped early on when my family’s beloved Flatcoated Retriever, Indie, ruptured her cruciate ligament. At the time, she had to be referred to a hospital over 20 miles away for her surgery. I saw first-hand the stress it caused - not just for Indie, but for my family, who were anxious leaving her in a new place with unfamiliar people. That experience stayed with me, and it's part of what drives my commitment to making advanced surgical care more accessible and less stressful.
I completed the Certificate in Small Animal Surgery (CertSAS) with Improve International and have spent the last five years delivering advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures, as well as mentoring and training vets within the White Cross Vets network. I’ve seen how empowering it can be for veterinary teams to manage complex cases in-house, from pre-op to post-op, and how much confidence that builds in both clients and colleagues.
With The Surgical Vet, my goal is simple: to bring skilled, compassionate surgical care directly to practices, so patients stay in familiar surroundings, clients feel supported, and veterinary teams grow in their own surgical journeys.
