Expert Surgical Care — Through Your Usual Vet Practice
At The Surgical Vet, I provide advanced surgical procedures for pets - right from your trusted veterinary practice. I work in partnership with your vet to ensure your pet receives high-quality surgical care without the stress of travelling to a referral hospital.
I understand how important your pet is to you, and we want you to feel confident in the care they receive. Here’s how the process works:
Speak to Your Vet First
If your vet has recommended surgery for your pet - such as a fracture repair, mass removal, or airway procedure - they can refer your case directly to me. I don’t take direct referrals from owners, so please contact your practice to begin the process.
Scheduling & Preparation
Once your vet has submitted the referral, I will work with them to schedule a suitable date for the surgery. In some cases, I may meet you at your vet practice on the day of the procedure to discuss the operation and answer any questions before admitting your pet.
Surgery Day
The surgery will be performed at your regular veterinary clinic, using sterile equipment that I bring with me. Your vet team will assist with anaesthesia and post-op care, and I’ll speak to you afterwards (usually by phone) to explain how everything went and what to expect.
4. Aftercare & Recovery
Your practice will handle the aftercare and rechecks, but I’ll provide a detailed surgical report and easy-to-follow aftercare instructions for you to take home.
You’ll also find downloadable versions of these instructions on this page once they’re available (coming soon!).
Soon, you’ll be able to download aftercare handouts for common procedures here. These will include advice on:
Activity restrictions
Wound care
Pain management
Signs to watch for
Follow-up appointments
This helps make your pet’s recovery as smooth and stress-free as possible - for both of you.
While your veterinary practice remains your first point of contact, I’m always happy to offer advice or support through your vet team if you have questions during your pet’s recovery.
